EHS&S

Commitment to EHS&S starts at the top of our organization as a core value driven throughout all operations. Carry Transit understands that safety must be believed in and practiced by people at every level, whose daily behaviors safeguard our natural resources, public health, and customer facilities. We are a proud 2013 winner and 2020 grand award finalist of the coveted National Tank Truck Carriers’ Outstanding Safety Performance Trophy, sponsored by Heil International (now called the North American Safety Champion Trophy), which recognizes those tank truck operations with the best safety record in North America.

FSSC & ISO 22000

Carry Transit was the world’s first food grade motor carrier to attain the FSSC22000 certification, one of the highest standards for the food industry. These technical specifications encompass and exceed those established by ISO 22000, and are the most challenging food safety regulations in existence for food and chemical companies.

DRIVER TRAINING: SAFETY FIRST

For decades, Carry Transit & Heniff’s Training & Development Centers, placed strategically across the US, served as our industry’s benchmark for driver training. Newly hired drivers undergo intensive hands-on and classroom instruction in all aspects of the driver’s job. This training, coupled with regional safety programs and ongoing support of driver skill development and career goals, have resulted in one of the lowest driver turnover rates in the nation.

SAFETY RECOGNITION

The highly successful driver incentive program initiative recognizes team efforts by terminals to achieve optimum levels of safety performance. Our Clean DOT Inspection award program incentivizes thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections. Both initiatives align management safety values with direct worker experience, resulting in a team-driven EHS&S culture embraced by all front line employees.
